What are you eating? I've not had the issue. Usually I have a headache and eating helps. You should talk to your doc, you might have an allergy to what you're eating.

I get headaches when I eat too. I have asked my doctor about this but she doesn't understand why. My only guess is that it is my body's way of telling me I am full. I usually stop eating as soon as I feel it start. I am sorry you have this issue, it is annoying.

I get this too. Except mine seem to go up to the left side of my head. Doctor thought that it was a nerve, and it's definitely my full sign. I avoid it like the plague.

I thought I'd post again to see if anyone else gets a headache when they eat and to see of those that do have had any improvement over the months.I was banded September 2010 with regular fills until April 2011 when my port failed with a leak. It took a bit to get diagnosed and the port was replaced during another surgery and gradually the fills increased my restriction again. I did not have the headache problem from the time the port failed until I could feel pretty good restriction again after getting the new port. The more restriction the quicker the headache sets in and the more I push the envelope with food the headache worsens and spreads across my forehead and down my face. This does slow me down with my eating, even though results on the scale are stubborn. As food moves through the band, the headache goes away about as quickly as it set in. The doctor told me I am the only one of his patients with this headache problem and said it is possible a nerve is involved with my lapband, but doesn't seem to have any answers/help for me -- other than the nurse reminding me to eat small bites slowly and noticing the "getting full" signals, which for me is the headache. The headaches are associated with my restriction level and come on within the first three or four bites. Does anyone have suggestions/comments on this? Thank you for reading this and I hope someone has some information I can share with the doctor on my next visit.

I was just banded Dec. 14, 2011 - since was only able to get 4-6oz of liquid in in a day. Yesterday they removed all of my saline (5.5cc's) told me to get children liquid Advil for the swelling. I did have 2 hernia repair during lap band surgery. And every since "mushy" week, I too have been having killer beyound Migraine type pressure headaches on the left side of my face, kind of behind my left eye. Before they removed the saline, it would happen when I'd take 2 sips of Water. If I try to eat food it is incredibly painful. Yesterday, they had no idea either - saying maybe I was severely dehydrated. Nausea and the pressure headaches woke me up at 4:33am this morning. I'm now waiting for the doctor to return my call. This really concerns me. I've read if I keep vomiting it could make my lap band slip. I would hate to have to go through surgery all over again.

My headaches are better when I pay attention to what's heading down to the band as regards speed, size, and quantity. If I swallow liquid or food too quickly, the flash headache comes on but doesn't last long if I stop eating/drinking (which, of course, I do because of the pain). My doctor didn't seem too interested in hearing about the headaches, but did concur that a nerve could be involved in my band thus causing the sudden headaches. His nurse was the most helpful by reminding me to pay attention to my body for signs of the headache coming on and stop short.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
