I have been doing the elliptical in the gym at my apartment but tonight my boyfriend and I signed up at a gym. I hope we stick to it this time...I joined mostly for the classes. What classes do you all take and what do you like/dislike about them!? :)

I like the spinning classes. They totally exhaust me and leave me in a soggy puddle. Plus I enjoy riding my bike so it helps there on days I can't get out. I'd like to try yoga but the class is at the same time as spinning and it looks like I"d fall asleep since the yoga room is dark. On alternate days, I do strength training exercises that the physical trainer set up for me. They aren't exactly my favorite but I realize that it's part of my overall health so I do it. Plus it gives me an hour of not worrying about my son who is enjoying HIS time at the gym's child care center.

Get bicycle shorts. I have a skort so no one has to see my jelly belly but your butt will thank you. Make sure to take plenty of Water and talk to the instructor. They can help out with setting up your machine and give helpful hints.

I am joining Curves again in the morning and a 24 hour gym. I am so excited! I've been working out at a rehab gym but it really doesn't fit my schedule so I am ready to go now! I haven't lost any real weight in a while so I hope this gives me a boost! I have been losing and gaining the same 5 pounds for over a month now!

Spin classes are the best bang for your buck cardio and easy on the knees too! Add a decent heart rate monitor and you have a recipe for serious progress!!!

I have been doing spinning and aerobics classes. Some ofthe classes they have at my local gym are rough and are a great workout. Iwould also check with your insurance to see if they have a reimbursementclause. My insurance will reimburse me up to 40% of my monthly membership feeup to $400 a year. It never hurts to save some money!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
