My life is like a box of Chocolates

Recommended Posts

OK here is the run down. No wonder I am so tired and my back is out. WHEW!!

First, my mother is having surgery on the 30th to remove a diseased portion of her colon due to diverticulitis.

Second, I am going to Tucson on the 31st for a Gem and Bead show for my Jewelry Biz.

Third, I have a daughter that is delivering her second child and my 7th grandchild on the 24th

Fourth, I just found out that my youngest daughter, who got married June of 04, is pregnant and most likely due in Sept.

SO I have lots going on in just the FIRST month of 2006. :omg:

Plus I am dealing with the loss of the band and changing my eating habits. SIGH!!

Calgon take me to the Islands and give me a chocolate bath. NOW!!

There is something about those September births!!! :biggrin1: :biggrin1:

My Anne Marie was due on my mom's day - September 15th. But we planned the c-section the day before. So, for our family party I get a big cake and have "Happy Birthday MeMe and Anne Marie". Very special!

So, how awesome would it be if the next bebe would be on (or near) YOUR birthday?!

Okay, penni, breathe!

Breathe while you can, and remember to keep breathing even when you don't have time for it!

How many kids do you have? Sounds like you had rabbits intead of children - just kidding!! Your mom has lots of "strangers" prayers (which are better than friend prayers IMHO), so she is being looked out for!

Enjoy the bead expo, and take some time while you are away for a mani-pedicure!! The closest thing to a chocolate bath!

Hang in there!

breath I must remember to breath. Thanks for the reminder.

I have 4 children. Three daughters and one son. My son is the youngest and he is 18 and graduates this year from High School.

I got all emotional last night and was talking with John and said. "All my baby girls are having babies." THen I just busted out crying. Then I laughed at myself for being so emotional. My daughter that is due any minute called and instead of saying HI she said "So do you feel really old now?" I just love the relationship I have with all my kids. I just wished we lived closer to each other.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
