Hello, brand new! I'm having surgery in two weeks!

Recommended Posts

And I'm scared, and excited. I lost my sheet with my post surgery diet, so if anyone could let me know week-by-week what I can have after surgery?

Can anyone tell me important to-do's and not-to-do's in your opinion, and important things to watch out for after surgery, based on experience? What is this thing I read about called "stuck"?

I have lots of questions, and the Dr.'s office isn't open until Monday!

my diet goes: Clear liquids (apple juice, water) for 2 days, full liquid (cream strained soups) for 2 weeks, puree (baby food) for 2-3 weeks, soft (scrambled eggs) for 2-4 weeks, and then regular diet.

I was banded yesterday so i have not experinced the "stuck" yet. But as I understand it, it is when a piece of food gets stuck on the way down to stomach. Then you have to "productive burp" to get the food up.

I have a lot of pain at the port site. It is hard to sit, stand, and lay down. the gave me liquid lortab for the pain, it takes the edge off but still lots of pain. I heard this pain only lasts for 3-4 days.

Good luck with your surgery!

Hello! wow, yesterday! Good luck! And congratulations!

Is the pain durable or is it terrible? Can you still cook, walk around, use the bathroom and bend over like normal? Do you need someone there to take care of you, I'm just wondering if I'll need someone to take care of me.

Today is a lot better. Yesterday i couldn't get out of bed or some chairs by myself. I have been staying at my mothers house. Today I can get out of bed and chairs, but slowly. The pain in my neck and shoulders have significatly reduced. Walking around didn't and doesn't bother me. Its the bending over that hurts. When going to the bathroom it was just the sitting down that hurt, everything else went fine.
