I just had my four week post surgery appointment and my doctor gave me a 3cc fill. Does this sound right? I keep hearing how everyone gets smaller amounts. My doctor says he likes a more aggressive approach where I will see good results fast. I'm not complaining, just curious. I lost 17 lbs in 4 weeks after the surgery. Hope Im not too tight now. I guess that is what worries me the most.

My doc pits 4 cc in at surgery which sounded crazy to me. And my first fill was 1 cc so now I have 5 cc total. If I have learned anything from this site it is that every doctor is vastly different I. Their approah to banding so just do whatever yours says and you should be fine

My first (and only) fill was 5cc. When I left the office I was really thinking that I had probably made a mistake in letting her put in that much but as it turns out it was the perfect amount :D

Everyone tolerates fills differently. I am one that can only take a small amount at a time. If you had no problem getting fluids down after the fill, then you should be good.

My first fill was 5cc, then 2cc a few weeks later, then 1cc, 1cc, .5cc, and .5cc to total the 10cc that I currently have. Six fills total. I really trust my doctor's office, and they've never steered me wrong! I actually asked for another fill, they gave me .5cc while saying that I didn't need it, and don't you know, I went back 3 weeks later and had it taken out. I was over-filled and miserable. I learned my lesson!

Just wanted to thank everyone for their replies. I totally trust my doctor as their entire office is fantastic to deal with. I also know that every doctor is different, but didn't every remember seeing any posts about that much for the first fill. Now I see that I am not alone, LOL. So far so good. I am able to keep down all my liquids so far including my Protein Drink. Thanks again.

My first fill was 5.5 cc's in an 11 cc band.

My first fill was 5.5ccs. My doc has a fluoroscope machine (like an xray to see how the liquid flows through my band) so he can accurately gauge how much Fluid I need. If you are doing it blind, then it's gonna be less to make sure you don't overfill.

I got a 5cc fill in my band an hour after surgery. And then another .5cc's 4 weeks later. ;) Every surgeon is definitely different.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
