I had my second fill a week ago and really couldn't tell a difference. Last night, we were eating out and I was having grilled salmon. I had eaten four to five bites and was stuck!

This wasn't my first time to eat salmon at this restaraunt. Yes, I was taking small bites and chewing it until it was mush. My question is why in the world did I get stuck? Could it have been the skin on the salmon, which I have eaten before? Or, was it the fact that my kids were talking my head off and making me nervous? I've had stress cause the band to tighten before. Let me say, this was the second time I've been stuck and it is miserable. Especially when you are eating out and have to excuse yourself from the table!

Could have been all of the above. Maybe you swallowed too much at once; no one can really say. Just be more careful next time.

I have found that drinking with food can cause me to get stuck. The bottom line is...the Band wants what the Band wants.

It doesn't really matter that you've had the salmon before at that restaurant, the band can be a fickle thing, and one day it will let you eat salmon, and the next day, you're sliming and stuck over the same dish!

I have found that specifically with salmon, it needs to be exceptionally tender and moist for me to be able to eat it. If it's the slightest bit dry, it will NOT go down the hatch no matter how masticated it gets. I have found dipping sauces, whether it's oive oil, or in this case, perhaps a nice cucumber/sour cream sauce may help keep it going in the proper direction.

Speaking of fish..... only "flaky" fish works for me. I can have catfish, bass, tilapia, no problem. I love all seafood, but find that shrimp is just too firm for my band.

I can eat chicken.... sometimes. Same with pork. I can't eat beef or lamb unless it's ground, and even then, it's a crap shoot.

I have found that mixing with certain other foods HELPS..... sauteed vegetables that get really soft, like zucchini, bell peppers, onions.... they get a little slimy when sauteed, and those go right down, no problemo!

Funny..... I get stuck at many meals with my kids. I think they are definitely a distraction, but since this is life we're trying to live here, it keeps me balanced :)

Same thing happened to me with salmon! One day you can eat it and then the next day you may not. I was fine with lettuce and tomatoes too and the last time I ate it, I was stuck. The band is tricky.
