Well, you don't want to throw up, so the pepto is fine. Why are you waiting on the protien shakes, I think you can start them right away (unless your dr. advised you differently)

Hi Julia, i know what you are talking about, i just got banded on the 31 of march and just on tue i had that feeling all day it is normal but try just sipping on Water every ten min. My doc gave me little med. cups that are 1ounce cups so i started to use them and the next day i was fine. I think when we were in the hospital we were concesine of what we were doing and somehow lost that when we got home. Good Luck.:D Harleygirl65

Hi I just got banded on the 5th, and I've been drinking the Protein Shakes since the 6th. My doctor put me on a clear lliquid diet for the first week or two hopefully one.... I drink 4oz of Protein 3 times a day and Water, crystal light, broth, and sugar free ice pops... oh an sugar free jello.......... my doc also said for the gas because of the air that they pump in our stomach to walk because it is not the same gas that would be in the intestines. they told me to stay hydrated I have a plan around the clock from 8am-11pm givin to me by the bariatric team that gives me examples of what to drink... its 4oz every hour for the first week plus the Vitamin and calcium.... i am a little weak though cause I've been out and about but I think I should have just gotten more rest, I am also hungry although everyone else tells me they were not :-(

Hi everyone I am back after 1 yr that I got my surgery. Initally I had lost 25 # like in the first month after surgery in mexico, but when I came to Seattle it took me like 4 months to be able to find a place to get my fills. The first dr. I found did not had the fluroscopy x ray machine so I ended up being poked seven times. The doctor never found my port, and on top of that the doctor had parkinson's so I never went back. Later, I found a different doctor two hours away from my home town, but every time I go he charges me 350 for every fill. My friend who also has a lap band tried to do my fill (she is uncertified) and it hurt me. Up to now, I have gained 15 lbs. and I'm desperate. I throw up pretty much every day. Does anybody have any advice for me or know a good place in Seattle that can do my fill?

Ok first, don't EVER let a friend or anyone who isn't qualified try to give you a fill. You're just begging for some major complications messing with that.

If you're throwing up daily, you don't need a fill, you need to have your band checked. You shouldn't be vomiting with the band. You need to make sure it's not too tight or slipped.

Can you have one of the other doctors you found locally check the band position for you? If you can't, you might have to go back to the surgeon who placed the band to have him check it. One way or another, you need it checked by a qualified surgeon immediately because vomiting daily is very bad.

Good luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
