54Shirley 105 Posted April 7, 2011 About 40 minutes. That was terrible, I thought I was going to a Hospital, and it came up. You better believe that I now know how to help myself if I get stuck. Because I will never want to go threw that again. So drink warm Water slowly, and it will either come up or drop down in the stomach. If it comes up,, keep drinking it may repeat. But keep drinking warm Water or Tea until you are clear. Then I do liquids for a day because of the swelling.
AlienBandit 10 Posted April 8, 2011 My first stuck episode I got stuck on a Vitamin and thought I was going to die. It wouldn't come up or go down and it hurt to move, breathe walk etc. Going to bed was so hard because I would have to wait a few minutes, endure the pain of moving wait a few more minutes and then move again. That night was terrible. I had to sleep sitting up and even the next morning once the pill passed my stomach was so sore, it felt almost like I was banded again. I saw my doc that day who said everything was ok thank goodness. Since then I have gotten stuck but never that bad. Hopefully this won't happen to you. 123crod 170 Posted April 9, 2011 I had vomiting since I first got the Band and once I was stuck so bad but it would not go up or down so my body was still trying to vomit it up and after a while I vomited some blood but was still stuck. Twenty minutes later I was vomiting blood clots. I was at a support group meeting at the time. Freaked my friends out. I called my Doctors office and they gave his cell number as it was a Saturday afternoon. I called him and he told me to get some Water and drink a tiny sip which I did and threw up more blood. Then I continued to take tiny sips for the next 10 minutes and thank God it went down. He told me he would meet me at the office in an hour if I needed to. I am more than an hour away from his office.I felt totally better and did not go in he told me to be on liquids for 3 days and that I had busted some blood vessals and that was what it was. For some reason the first year and a couple of months when I got stuck it always had to come up and out it would NEVER go down no matter how long I waited it out and I waited it out many times the longest was about 8 hours. I could feel it trying to go through the Band but was like stuck in the middle could not go either way. I also suffer from anixiety and the stuck feeling starts me in the direction of a panic attack. I usually have to let my med for anxiety dissolve on my tongue as it would not go down. My Doctor and I could never figure what was wrong. I had a Floro at every office vist, only have 3.8 cc in 10 cc Band. But after a while things just changed and things started going down instead of up. Almost everytime I have ever been stuck was with some type of chicken. I still get stuck some but not like in the first year. I know sometimes it is my fault as I do not chew enough. If I go out and eat with my son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren I can not sit next to the 4 year old as she talks so much I can not chew as she is waiting for an answer. Even with all the throwing up in the beginning I love my band and do not regret getting it. Cheri
cherluvsdan 0 Posted November 18, 2011 Thank you for this post. I got stuck last night and when it came up, there was some blood. Scared the bejeebers out of me. I felt better after and no pain since, so I didn't call the Dr. I decided to do liquids fo a couple of days and see what happens. Your explaination of the broken blood vessels makes sense. Thanks!! theodoru 0 Posted November 19, 2011 14 hours. It turned out I was not stuck. I swelled shut after a small fill. It did not end until the doctor took all the Fluid out.
B-52 7,113 Posted November 19, 2011 As part of my learning curve, living with the band and learning new foods and eating techniques, I have been stuck many times. If I don't feel like waiting, then drinking some Water will take care of it. And I don't mean washing it down either!
