I get my first fill friday and i am nervous any one with tips on what to do after the fill and what not to do please comment. Also anybody that can give me an idea of what to expect friday that would be great too. I was banded on March 2nd and have lost 20lbs so far but no restriction and can eat any amount but i have been dieting since i been on regular foods the past week or so. Can anyone tell me did you even have any restriction or more weight loss after your first fill or should I not expect to have no more weight lost until my next fill or so forth? I am so nervous about being stuck at this same weight and i do walk but Monday i am starting a new gym and personal trainer so we shall see..Please give advise and comments on your first fill experiences Thanks!!!

I had my first fill on Monday. I had a group appointment with other people who had not had a fill. I guess it is easier for them to give the speech and new diet changes as a group of seven than to do it over and over again. When they called me back the doctor had me lay on a table with an xray type machine. He felt for my port and we were talking about Vegas with the nurse. I didnt feel the prink or any pressure and by the time I had thought of the name of the hotel we were staying at the nurse told me to drink the barium and they watched to adjust the fill according to how the Fluid was going through the band. Mind you we were still talking in a span on 1 minute. The needle was removed and I didnt feel it still. I was show the screen and told to hang out for a few minutes and that was it. No big deal.

So do you feel any restriction or any difference in what you can eat now that you have had the fill on Monday?

My fills have a small pinch from the needle and over very quickly. I did not have any restriction until month 5. Not trying to be alarmist just telling my personal experience. My fills amounts were like 4,2,2,1, 1.4,.6,.6,.1. Please do be careful after the fill and follow your doctors orders. Most call for a modified post fill diet. Your stomach can be irritated by the tightening of the band. Mine calls for 24 hours full liquids and 24 hours mushies. I have seen people write in that they ate solid foods immediatly following a fill and had a back stuck episode. Meaning the food got stuck passing from the pouch to the large "stomach".

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
