I'm 18 months banded with good restriction. Yesterday, I tried to eat a bite of a Krystal Burger. (a small burger with a dinner roll type bun) I know I shouldn't try bread, but was hungry. I took small bites and chewed really good. Of course, it got stuck. I was in a vehicle at the time, so I suffered and did not throw up. Never did eat any lunch and later in the day has some baked cheetos as a small snack. They went down okay. That evening (I'd eat nothing since the cheetos) I had a glass of wine and barely got it down. I had two "episodes" where I threw up the wine. I didn't eat supper and went to bed. This morning. I did drink 1/2 of a small glass of watered down OJ, 1/4 cup coffee and am now drinking crystal light. Still nothing to eat and have had a couple of "episodes" this morning. My stomach hurts, but not unbareable. My last adjustment was 3 months ago and has been just fine since. I do know that when you vomit your band can swell some. My question is: Is this just swelling? or (God forbid!) slippage. I'm wondering if I stay on liquids if it will "work itself out". I realize I could call the Dr., but don't want to have my band deflated, if possible.

Thank you for your valuable time,

Susan

If it was me and I was able to drink and keep liquids down, I would probably wait to see if any swelling went down and then reintroduce soft food moving back to my regular diet. If I can't keep liquids down, I'd call the Dr. instead of risking dehydration. Hope you feel better soon!

Thank you so much! I just tried to eat some beef broth Soup and so far, so good! I'm taking it slow and easy. Maybe it was the warm liquid that helped? I don't know, I just didn't want to have to go to the doctor!!! I'm going to take it easy. You are so sweet, thank you again.

Yep - keep drinking liquids - warm if they go down better. It may take a few days for the swelling to go down. Like Eko said - make sure you get in enough fluids. If you band feel tighter when you drink really cold things - limit those as much as possible for the time being. Also, and I know there are several opinions about ibuprofen..and I only recommend this if you can drink fluids adequately, but you can do a children's liquid ibuprofen (adult dosage is about a full dosage cup that comes with the ibuprofen). Drink a dosage cap full of liquid ibuprofen and follow this with plenty of Fluid to "wash" it through the band. You may even want to drink milk or something a bit heavier after the ibuprofen to help things along and keep it from irritating your stomach lining. I use it for headaches when needed, just only do it if you are able to drink plenty of Fluid afterward to wash it down. Ibuprofen is good at reducing swelling.

And if all else fails - a slight unfill can do wonders until you are feeling better. Good luck!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
