Victoriana 10 Posted January 13, 2006 I have a 10 cc band and I got my first fill of 1.5. I ate mushies this afternoon and didn't have any problem.. I ate a few pieces of beef and chewed well, and no problem. Then the third bite! Whoa was I surprised! I took a brisk walk around the block in the cold rain,(glad I used an umbrella) and walked it out. I'm glad the air was fresh and clean and cold. It did the trick. When I got home I drank Water and about 3 hrs later I was hungry so I ate Cream of Wheat. That was fine, It helped the medicine I use stay down better. I am on the learning curve!:nervous
ShadyLady 0 Posted January 13, 2006 I go for my first fill today. I am so excited, but also a little nervous. I am petrified of needles. I was also wondering how the doctor decides how much to fill?
MyKdsDad 1 Posted January 13, 2006 Mae, it depends on which band you have. Joy has the Vanguard band and I believe it has a total capacity of 10 cc, so her doctor starts off with a 5-6 cc fill. I've read about the smaller bands that start off with a 1.5 fill.
HarleyNana 10 Posted January 14, 2006 I think it all depends on the doctor and obviously, the band size. I've been banded over a year and I'm just at 2 in my 4cc band, gosh I better check, it's been so long since a fill, hmmmm.
Jolean 0 Posted January 16, 2006 Mae, How did the fill go. I am scheduled for my first fill this tues. A little nervous but need a fill, I was doing so good, down 25lbs then in the last week I have gained 5lbs. UGH. My surgery was Dec 8th. no problems since, did have a PB and after that stayed on liquids for a few day which helped and lost some more weight. Yeah. I hear we can not feel anything for a couple of days, would like to hear from you and how you did.
cindylouwho 0 Posted January 16, 2006 What is a PB?
Jolean 0 Posted January 16, 2006 A PB is what they call a progressive burp. Its when food gets stuck and you get all slimmy and throw it up. In my case I threw it up anad then couldn't eat anything for a while because my stoma got swollen because of the regergitation movement irritated it. Now remember I just had the surgery too so I was still healing. Hope that helps.
