Where did my motivation go?

Recommended Posts

Hello-

I was banded on 1/3/11 and at first, i was totally into it and lost about 40 pounds to date. I was so excited and eating right and working out. This month was bad! I didn't lose a single pound, but at the same time, i didn't do anything to lose a pound either. B.w the stress of work this month (being a quarter close), trying to find a new house, and figuring out how to pay for it and clean up my old place, my plate was full of stress. i ate what i wanted, as much as i wanted, and maybe went to the gym twice. I feel horrible now. Not physically, but mentally. i feel like i gave up. this 2k surgery was suppose to helpfully not let me get like this...

you know when your on a diet and at first your cranking and doing great, and then something clicks and you feel like its to hard and would just be easier and more enjoyable to eat what you want and do what you want... well i feel that way...

i have my 4th fill tomorrow and am hoping i can talk to my nurtitionist and she might have some sugestions to get back on track. im dreading going actually b.c i dont have to have GAINed weight, but i wouldn't be suprised if i did. i feel like i am letting them down.

has anyone else felt this way and if so... what did you do to get back on track? I am thnking about going back on my preop diet for 2 weeks but the food i can eat on that is so minimal and im scared im going to feel like shit and then it will be even worse...

any words of wisdom, or motivation would be much appreciated...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
