sifting through new posts

Is there any easy way to clear or delete new posts, without having to go into each one so that it is no longer considered a new post?

I'm not always able to clear out posts daily, so they are really stacking up.

I like to see the new stuff posted on a day to day basis when I can, when I can't I'd like to be able to clear them out with a click or select or something, so I can keep up better.

Currently unless I open each one individually, it seems to stay so my new posts are numbering in the high 400's... at this rate they'll hit the thousands soon...is there an easier way?
