I dont want to copy and paste.. I want to include things I know on my own and so I dont always provide perfect instructions, I assume the person knows alittle about cooking and can figure it out..

I dont want to be a hassle

Spicy Fish with Coconut - slow cooker recipe

This recipe is aboslutely freaking divine! I used tuna steaks for this. any firm fish filets would work just as well.

1 tbsp olive oil

1 tsp cumin seeds

1 chilli chopped and deseeded

I clove garlic, peeled and crushed

1 lemon grass stalk, chopped (i used about 2 tsp dried)

1 tbsp grated lime rind

2 tbsp light soy sauce

1 tsp Thai fish sauce

150ml coconut milk

4 fish steaks or fillets

1 tbsp chopped coriander to sprinkle on top for serving

steamed rice and sald or steamed green Beans to serve.

Heat oil in frying pan and fry cumin seeds, chilli, garlic and lemon grass for 3 minutes. Blend with rind, soy and fish sauce and coconut milk.

LIghtly rinse fish and place in slow cooker pot. Pour coconut mixture over. Cook on high 20 mins then on low for 2-3 hours depending on the fish.

We had this with cauliflower rice and steamed snow peas. Yummy.

There was a thread a few months ago with lots of easy recipes, it might have been Jessie that put so many good recipes in there. I'll have to see if I can find it.

Fabulous Protein smoothie

1.5 c Skim Milk

2 Bananas (previously peeled then frozen)

1 c Strawberries

2 scoops Six Star chocolate whey Protein Powder

Be sure to peel and freeze the bananas ahead of time. This gives the smoothie a thick and frozen consistancy.

Put the milk and Protein Powder into the blender. Slowly add the bananas until completely blended. Then add the Strawberries. For a thicker, more frozen smoothie you can use frozen strawberries.

This makes two large smoothies. For a crunchy Fiber add 1/2 cup of wheat germ. For extra Vitamins add vegetable powder, or crushed Vitamin pills. You can also add Benefiber powder, or any other supplemental needed.

I do not freeze the strawberries, as my teeth are sensitive to the cold, by DH likes his that way, and it is a frothy frozen treat that he just loves!

In a mixer beat cream cheese and mayonnaise together. Add all other ingredients except crab. Mix in soup mix and then add crab.

Put in mold or container. Should cool overnight or at least most of the day.

Serve with crackers (triscuit or wheat thins are best) or with sliced baguette. (or for bandsters plain with a fork is great).

[dear teresa I am a chef from australia who has had the lapbanding done in oct 2004 at that time surgury weight was 494 pounds 225kg and at the moment I am 264 pounds 120kg and falling at approx 1.25-1.85kgs per week approx 4Lbs p/week and I think there is a possibility I could help other bansters eat well and healthy without the pain of intergestion:cool: lofarosonline@hotmail.comquote=casinocat74]I have a wonderful idea for myself and my fellow bandster's(and bandster's to be)!! Let's make a LBT cookbook! I will do all the laminating and I will make all the prints and everything! I am addicted to scrapbooking, so this is right up my alley!

My idea is to compile a bunch of recipes and make them into an actual cookbook. I would like to have drink recipes, Protein Shakes, appetizers, Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and Desserts that are LAP band friendly! ANY SUGGESTIONS ARE WELCOME!!

As soon as there are enough recipes for each catagory, I will start to design the cookbook! Make sure to put your name below your recipe so that you get the credit.

When the cookbook is done, I am not really sure how I will get them to everybody, or if I should sell them, but I will figure it out with everyones help!

Sooooo, what do you guy's think??

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
