Goal question?

Recommended Posts

I'm between 5'2"and 5'3" my goal weight is 150 but according to the books 125 would be better.

try this site( hope I got it right)

www.halls.md/ideal-weight/body.htm

That site is a bit frustrating. It does show the medical average of what you should be, but the other calculation is what people think their weights are. As your weight goes down so does the acceptable weight.

I'm 5.2 with a goal weight of 135... but I'll be satisified if I can see 150 again - I think that's more realistic for me.

The information it was given is if you loose half to two thirds of your excess weight they would feel that the banding has been successful. Then there after is bonus .I have lost what they call successful however Im still over weight and need to loose 20pounds.Funny after a while you get use to feeling thinner and then start to feel just like you use to..Fat

My doctor said I should weigh between 115-140 lbs. at 5'3" to be a normal weight. Any more than that and I'll be overweight. I've been overweight my whole life, I can't imagine being "normal". I decided on 135 lbs. as a goal. I've seen a cosmetic surgeon, he said if I got down to 175 lbs. the rest would be taken off in skin etc. so that is my actual weight loss goal...

This thread is very interesting! My Dr. and I did not discuss a goal weight. I remember the last time I was under 200lbs was in the 5th grade when I was 175lbs.

I don't know where my weight loss will take me, but I do know that I would love to buy normal clothes and not 3X and plus sized jeans. I do care what the scale says but then again, if I was a size 8 and the scale said 400 would I really care?

I am 5'10" and I see some people posting their goal for that height is 150... I personally would look way too skinny at that weight. I want to be curvy and just want to feel good. We are all different and have different body types. I KNOW that at 200 pounds I will be a FOX!!! BUT, I will still be medically too fat!

Who cares? ??? When that scale says 199, I am throwing the BIGGEST Party ever!!!

(sorry for the long post)

I agree, it is interesting to read about goals and how they were set. I am a little over 5'7", so I picked 150, even though 135 would be the "stated" goal on a chart or something. In reality, 180 would be plenty good. I remember that weight...I honestly don't remember 150. Maybe when I get under 200, I will adjust my goal, but right now, I am gunning for 50 lbs lost...that's what the bottom ticker represents.

I guess I am ideal around 145 to 165

but I will be amazing at 199...

and my realalistic goal is to be under 250 pounds

that still means i have to loose in total 165 pounds.

Well, I am 5'2" and my entire life I have been told that I need to get to 125 or under to be at a healthy weight. Well, when I graduated from hs I weighed 195 and after my freshman year in college i weighed 230. I put on the FREAHMAN 15 ~~ TWICE!!

My mini goal is to win Delarla's 3 month weight challenge and then see where I am then.

I feel I have not been the bandster I should be. I will be 6 months post op as of Jan 26, and I haven't even lost 50 pounds as of yet..... I suck at this...

I agree with Heathergurl... I don't care what the scale says as long as I am comfortable in a certain size. I did WW before this. It took me 1.5 years to lose 50 lbs. I went from a size 24 to a size 18. Other people may not have thought that I looked good but I FELT great. I was tucking in my shirts, wearing jeans that did not have elastic waist bands, etc. What is most important to me is that I feel good about myself... getting my self confidence back and my self esteem. What's more... Even if I do not meet the "goal weight" of all the books, I have still lost weight, added years to my life to spend with my husband and kids, and are healthier than I was before. Every pound lost is closer to a healthier and longer life. :gluck:

I'm 5'5" medium build and the BMI chart says my "ideal" range would be 115-150 lbs. I set my original goal as 150 because I want to keep my curves, then I thought it doesn't matter the weight, I just want to get down to a size 14. I'm at a size 16 now, but I don't like how I look yet- my stomach area is still too big for my taste, everything else is good.

Before I got the band, my surgeon suggested 160, so I just recently changed my goal to 160.

Ultimately, the number doesn't matter, just wherever you feel most comfortable. I have never gone by those "ideal" weight charts. They expect you to be skin and bones! I weighed about 130 when I was in high school and I didn't realize it then, but I was a stick!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
