Hi My name is Stacy I am 47 and the mom of a angel 31/2 yo Riley....She is my inspiration and the major catalyst for me undergoing surgery. I have asked my suregeon Dr Dibenedetto at Rochester General if he fills immediately after surgery (as I have read many of you are getting) but he does not....I am exceedingly anxious about feeling starved after surgery...not to worries about pain etc...just not being able to eat and the hunger issue..I will take any advice you have...did anyone get advanced faster than 3 weeks to smushie food?

If it helps to put it in a different perspective, the reason you don't get a fill right away is to let your stomach heal. After surgery, no matter how minor it is, tissue will swell, and it'll take some time for the swellling to go down and the stomach to heal. So I'd guess having a fill could close you right up.

Consider all that's happening a rite of passage. Most have to go through a pre-op diet (I've started to want to chew on furniture I'm so hungry sometimes), and then we have up to six weeks of liquids, mushies, and then working our way to solid food. So in 6 weeks you'll be back to solid food.< /p>

Six weeks, in the big scope of things, isn't all that long. At least, that's what I tell myself.

Good luck, keep your chin up.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
