Late Night Eating....can you or is it a no-no for you?

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this..(at any stage...i'm almost 2 years post op..still can't believe it!)...it's not good to eat too late anyways (we all know this)..but i found now that i'm tighter/at my sweet spot, that i physically CAN"T eat late at night...like after 10pm....it will come up, guaranteed.

I cannot eat after 9pm. I think maybe a few times my band had mercy on me while I was out with friends. I was just discussing this with my sis last night.

While I normally don't eat at 9 or after; between work and getting to the gym I often eat at 8. I asked the Nut. and she said that the biggest issue with people eating late is that they often go for high fat calorie foods (nachos, pizza). That if I was eating 3 oz of lean Protein and 1 cup of veggies no sauces she did'nt have a problem with that.

Thats my biggest downfall, actually the fact that I havent really started any specific exercise program and Im a year into it. I've lost 60# and I would have lost alot more if I could stop eating in the evening, thats always been a problem for me.

SF2009- it's acually about 9-9:30pm for me too! I've been tod that your band can be tighter normally at night/early in the morning....i knew i wasn't the ONLY one, but its nice to hear it for sure. There have been a FEW occasions where it was ok...but not many. Sometimes I'm at work until 10pm so it's either eat when i get home or be hungry, which guarantees a problem too...

Honk- i understand what the nutritionist is saying, however for me that includes healthy food. I don't eat fast foods anymore and physically can't eat pizza...so even my go-to food that is filling, healthy but also pretty much a slider food (SALAD!!!!) will come up if i eat it too late....

loserbob- being almost 2 years out now, i am JUST getting into a good workout routine. I've lost 70lbs without much working out at all...i did it in spurts for the longest time but NOW i'm enjoying it again. You'll get there! Don't do the whole "if i had worked out sooner, i would have lost more by now"...i did that for a LONG time...only makes you feel bad. Now if i say it, it's in a matter-of-fact way and i'm not upset by it :)

I eat at weird hours because of my job. I am a nurse and work a 12 hr night shift 3-4 days a week. So a lot of times I have to eat at "night". It is not a prob for mr , but I am definitely tighter when I wake up no matter what time if day that ends up being. Can't eat for a couple hours after I wake up

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
