Huggles1951 1 Posted April 2, 2011 I was banded Jan 10th and just had my first fill. I had a couple of other appts. where my Dr. decided I didn't need a fill because I wasn't hungry and I was losing at a good rate. Friday I went in and I am still not hungry except when I should be (unlike before when I was always hungry). I did tell him I could eat more than before depending on what it was. I was still getting stuck once in awhile trying new stuff so I know I had some restriction from the Fluid he put in during surgery. He decided to do a fill and the process itself wasn't too bad. He had me drink a small amount of Water and that went well. No problem. It wasn't till about 4 hours later that I started to have issues. When I drink anything now there's all this gurgling going on ( like a plugged drain )and it seems like it takes forever for the fluid to go down. I feel like something is stuck in the back of my throat all the time and have a kind of nauseous feeling. Do you think this is normal after a fill and maybe it will ease up in a few days or should I think about getting some fluid taken out next week. I had 2cc in after surgery and he just added 2 cc. I have a 10cc band.
TKW 501 Posted April 2, 2011 Well, if you are getting stuck a lot and throwing up, you should probably go in for an unfill. but it may ease up in a few days. Be really careful and take small bites and chew chew chew. You kind of have to play it by ear but you don't want to be over tight. It just causes you to eat the wrong foods (sliders) and if you get stuck a lot and it leads to throwing up you increase the risk of a slip. Lots of people get stuck a lot and throw up and never have a slip (speaking from experience) but you don't want to increase the chance. Good Luck, and remember the best answer would come from your Dr.
vlp1968 83 Posted April 2, 2011 You may have some swelling from the fill. It may improve after a few days. In the meantime I might to liquids for a couple days. If it doesn't get better in 2-3 days I would go in for a slight unfill. Hope you feel better soon.
Melissannde 41 Posted April 2, 2011 Stay on liquids for now. Warm things like tea and coffee (if your doc allows such) should help loosen the band just a tad. If your doc prohibits caffeine, try other warm/hot things. broth, hot Water with lemon, etc. If you get to the point that liquids will not go down, or they go down and come back up again... call your surgeon for an unfill.
