I'm no doctor but I guess the pain is the bigger concern than the swelling. I have a bulge in my lower abdomen everyday since surgery right where my port is. According to my dr, the port sits on or close to the intestines so whenever there's any gas passing through it causes swelling. It does cause discomfort if it bulges a lot or I mess with it; maybe you're dealing with something similar? That being said, you already said you're getting tested, which is good. I really think chances are your symptoms are band related and not a sign of some major ailment. Just keep doing what you're doing by keeping in touch with you dr; better safe than sorry. I wish you well no matter what!

maybe you should stick to light exercises.I too tried some exercises and got a swelling.

I think the insides take almost 2 months to heal.

We always think of the worse first... Don't do this to yourself. It could be a Hernia, or a pocket of Blood that needs draining. Is it near your Port?

If it was what you said,,, I think your surgeon would have seen it.

Mine looked into my GROIN ! and removed my Lymph nodes because they were over sized (HE THOUGHT CANCER) I asked him what would you have done if it was?

He said I would have close you right up....

So don't go there Please ! Let them see what it is.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
