Question from a newbie!

Recommended Posts

I am new to this site andI had my surgery yesterday! So far everything is going great.

I have been getting all my fluids in...it is unusual to not feel any restriction with liquids right after surgery. I feel like I could drink forever.

I guess I am just worried I know the band is in there cause I have a picture of it and the wounds to prove it....but I don't feel any different on the inside.

Thanks for the help.

I also had my surg yesterday and the night shift nurse told me I was drinking TOO much??!!!??? The NP when she came in in the morning said I was fine, but I too am not having some of the problems being explained by others with the liquids. I am quite a bit gasy though and I am up 8 pounds with Fluid, but day by day I know things will start to fall into place. Keep up the fluids and best of luck!!

I think you should be fine. Congratulations to you (and to you also, fly4kidsrt) on getting the band.

Yes you are fine...drink away! Just wait till a couple weeks go by and you start questioning if there is actually a band in you. At least that was how it was for me till I got my first fill a couple weeks ago. Now I am looking forward to fill number two!! But I truly did not feel like my process had started till I got my first fill, so hang in there and it will get better. Healing will take time so let yourself heal before your worry about weightloss!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
