I'M BACK! Does anyone remember me? :)

Recommended Posts

Hey Everyone I am back...for those that remember me....

I have to admit, this has not been a journey that I am necessarily proud of. I was banded in October and had a pretty awful recovery, I don't think I have a very high pain tolerance. Anyways, I have decided to come back because I need the help and support from my fellow bandsters. After my surgery I went into a huge depression. I will keep the story short but I basically didn't have any restriction and have been eating terribly and not following through and I am sooooo disapointed in myself.

ANYWAYS, I have been eating healthy for the past week and have been exercising for 3 days now. I know its nothing in the grand scheme but hey it's a start. I also feel like I have NO restriction what so ever and have had 3 fills....I've only lost 15 pounds.

Welcome back and congratulations for getting back on track. That's one of the hardest things to do.

Remember 15 lbs is 15 lbs. Go to the store and look at 15 packages of butter and realize you already lost that. Good for you and welcome back.

Babyk welcome back! Forgive your past and know that you are starting out with a new outlook. Look forward and not back. Ristriction is a goal that everyone strives for and is not necessarily reached with 2-3 fills. Some say it might even take 6-8 fills. I believe it is an individual thing depending upon our bodies and it's response to the Fluid in the band.

I have needed like 8 fills to get restriciton so I would suggest going to the doctors.

Thanks so much to everyone who responded! I feel like my band isn't even in me :( I am having another fill in 2 weeks so I am hoping this will help. What do you guys eat? Any good recipes?

congratulations on getting up and brushing yourself off and starting fresh. It is never too late to start over. I read these posts every morning and I am amazed that I was banded 12/20/08, lost 90 pds and have been to goal for the last 1 1/2 yrs and NEVER had a fill. Last night I could hardly eat dinner, when I get upset, stressed or nervous I have an even harder time eating than usual. I don't know what the difference in me and the other bandsters is but I have been very happy with my band. Remember, it is never too late to start over, I am 58 years old and wish I had done this 20 years ago! Good luck and never give up!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
