Question for the ladies.....

Recommended Posts

So I have noticed that I have been incredibly cranky for the last few days - felt very anxious and on edge, fun stuff; and then last night my cycle started - 3 days early. I know that probably doesn't sound abnormal to most, but mine is like clock work - always has been, and the PMS? NEVER like this. So I was wondering, has anyone esle had this experieince since getting your band? I got mine 1/5 /2011, so I am wondering if this is related to my surgery?

I think he most basic way to explain it is, weight loss causes horomone changes, which in turn mess with your cycle. For some, it's a good thing, for some it's bad. Personally, my cycle has gotten shorter, and my last period was a light 3 days. That is a big big difference from how it was before. Your cycle will eventually even back out again, but it may ake some time.

Saraboo is right on target. Chalk it up to hormone changes, which were precipitated by weight loss (fewer female hormones being released by fat cells). If you're keen to avoid a period for a while talk to your Dr about taking a birth control pill for 3 months at a time, it's not going to harm you, and will help get you back on track during your weight loss.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
