got behind on sweet spot?

Recommended Posts

I was curious if anyone else was at their sweet spot, but then seem to lose it. I currently have 2.75 cc in a 4cc band. I hit my sweet spot in May 05 with my 3rd fill and had another fill in July 05. The July 05 fill was too much and had that fill taken out during x-ray drinking barium (fluro?) due to lots of acid reflux. After the last fill was removed i could tell it was loser than i prefered, but i was able to lose weight so i stuck with it. My last fill brought me to 2.75cc was on 12/8 and i was really looking forward to restriction, but never got the restriction. After the 12/8 fill i could feel liquid gurgle through which is usually a sign of restriction, but it didn't seem to carry over to solid food. Has anyone else had a fill that never really kicked in? I know the first couple of fills may be that way, but by now i would think every little bit should make a big diference. I have another fill scheduled for 1/19 so maybe that will do it. BTW, i have not been drinking w/ meals and have been eating the right foods - lots of solid protien. Any thoughts? Thanks for reading!!!

my fill guy explained that if you lose fat around the band area, you will get looser. he also told me that even though I haven't lost weight, he can tell I am losing the fat around my port. It projects out and is much easier to access.

maybe something like that is happening with you...

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
