Delayed Restriction question?

Recommended Posts

I had my second fill a few weeks ago. I think I have 2.3 cc's in a 10cc band. At first I was hungry all the time but got full quickly. Now I am noticing I am,never hungry and things are getting stuck pretty easily. Which of course I know I need to chew even more. But has anyone ecperienced this and would you say its delayed restriction? Or is something else going on?

Thanks for your comments.

I wish I had more experience to share in this area! I had my 2nd fill about 2 months ago and haven't had another since I've been losing so well. I am much tighter during my TOM, but even after it was over this week, I noticed that I was still having to be more careful with food than I ever had before. That's what I call a delay! I am beginning to wonder if other factors like weather affect the band?

I notice a lot of people on here say a fill takes a few days or even weeks to take affect. How can that be??? I have no idea.

I dont understand the delayed reaction because when they fill you the pillows in the band fill immediately and tighten the stomach. Sometimes I think barimetric pressure has a lot to do with it I have been banded for 15 months and I sure know when its going to rain because I become very tight. I dont really think there could be a delayed reaction because that is just my opinion. I am tight from the time I get filled and it eases up over time because with your body heat the saline does evaporate making it easier to eat. I dont agree with the delayed reaction but that is just my opinion.

My doctor said yes you should feel restriction immediately after a fill, but because your body has to adjust to it sometimes it can be a few weeks before everything settles down. I've only had one fill so far and was tight for the first day, then felt absolutely nothing for about 2 weeks. it was week 3 before I really noticed a difference and now 5 weeks later I'm finally starting to get full a lot faster than in the past. I don't know why it takes time. but it seems to be a common occurance...

I definitely have a delayed response to fills, usually after a couple of days I get a lot tighter. My fill nurse told me that's actually quite common. I also find that my tightness fluctuates a bit with some days/weeks a lot tighter than others. So, don't worry too much. Just take it really slow, and see how your body responds.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
