I am on MFP too. I would love you to friend me. my user name is rkimom. I was banded over two years ago and have been had core back to MFP for a couple of months and am finally losing again. I like that I can log on my phone or iPad and it syncs them. No excuses for not journaling.

HI.. I joined myfitness pal a few days ago.. someone here suggested it for helping me track my food. Im Pre-op and doing the three month NSWL before final insurance approval. I am trying to eat High protien low carb and stick to 1600 calories... My Doc also put me on Bio-Lean...(my mother calls them hooey pills) If anyone else uses that site or is in the same boat as i am please add me as a friend.. I would love to have someone in the same boat as i am. Most i have found on that site are not WLS people... i keep hearing people here talk about it.. so im sending up a flare to find me!!!!!! my nick over there is "Mrsktillman"

MFP is great for tracking you food, but I don't use it for that primarily. I use it to determine the nutritional value of my recipes and food choices. I have found it is great for that. Tracking you food choices is an excellent way of keeping yourself on track. I have done it a few times, but I am not fanatical about carb count like some on the forum. You need some carbs for energy and balance.

I think it is good you are getting into the habits and lifestyle before surgery. I am betting you will have fewer adjustment problems than some seem to have. Your pre-op guidelines sound very reasonable. Just don't let your good pre-op results give you second thoughts about the sleeve. It is the best thing that every happened to me and my daughter. Good luck on your journey.

My MFP name is 12beamup. Maybe I'll see you there...Kathe

Keep track of everything you eat. Even on the bads days when you want to conveniently forget;-) You will be shocked to see how quickly you can 10 calorie yourself up to 1600. I agree with Grannyk, learning the good habits now will be better so you are not so emotional after the surgery. You are going to LOVE the sleeve, it is a life changing event.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
