First off I am quite excited to be post on this side of the form FINALLY!! Anyway I am 2 weeks and a day our of surgery and FINALLY I am moving onto mushy foods but I need a little help. I am going food shopping tonight for some mushy food menu items and I am kind of at a loss. I am going to pick up yogurt and ricotta cheese and some cauliflower that I can mash. Anyone have any other suggestions!?!?! Thanks so much!

My mushie staples were scrambled eggs, fat free refried Beans with cheese, ricotta cheese with Tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese, tuna and chicken salad (my NUT allowed me this on mushies but not everyone does) and greek yogurt. You can also take ricotta cheese, add splenda, a little vanilla and lemon zest and get a nice little dessert.

I second the tuna salad. It keeps me the most full and it has helped regulate my digestion.....I've also done fried eggs (well fried with pam spray, not oil) and asparagus cooked really soggy. I haven't tried the re-fried Beans because I'm already having gas issues, but it sounds yummy. We've also gotten talapia that cooks up pretty soft.

Thank you both. I had a scrambled egg this morning with some cheese and it was AMAZING! Funny party is I hate eggs lol.

I should of probably added that I am somewhat of a picky eater. So although most of this stuff sounds good I don't like a lot of it but then again look at what happened with the eggs.< /p>

I've been on mushies now for four day and some of the things on my list from my nutritionist are banana w/ Peanut Butter, fat free refried Beans, chili (blended a bit to take out the chunks), hummus, tuna fish, canned chicken (like for chicken salad), mashed sweet potatoes, oatmeal, yogurt, sugar free pudding and any fish w/ cooked veggies. So far it hasn't been too bad and I'm so thankful for anything other than soup!! :) Good luck!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
