I was banded on March 11, 2011 and have no Fluid in my band. I go for my post op on Friday and will probably have a fill. I have lost close to ten pounds (I didnt weigh pre op on my own scale so I wont have the real numbers until I get on their scale). I was just wondering if I should be worried about not losing much weight before my fill? I havent really been working on it since I am not realeased for anything other than walking (and thats sketchy as I thought I could walk all I wanted but my best friend had it done 2 weeks before me and said they told her no more than 20 steps at a time). One of us is confused so i have been walking briskly but for only 30 minutes a day ( its been very hard because I was working out several hours a day prior to surgery.... It takes everything in me not to start running on that treadmill). I thought until my first pre op appointment it was more about learning to eat with the band and tracking Protein (nutrition) but I see so many posts of people losing massive amounts of weight prior to their first fill... should I have done more or focused more on weight loss?

The first 6 weeks is not about losing weight - its about healinggggggg. This is normal :) After you find your sweet spot then you will lose the weight and it might or might not take a couple fills.

You are doing just fine. 10 pounds without a fill is great. You'll be back to your workouts before you know it. I know how you feel, I had plastic surgery and had to take 8 weeks off. I couldn't believe how much I missed it. Good luck!

I see a lot of variation here in. People who lose or who don't lose prior to fills, I also see a variation of the prescribed diets, and exercise as well. Guess it just depends on the individual and their body response to the band, surgery and diet in general. I'd hope after all we have gone through to get approval, the surgery itself, the pre and post diets, and education along the way that no one would specifically focus on weight loss over healing.

I'm 6 days post and down 15 lbs from the morning of surgery. Believe me I've not been at the gym or doing anything crazy I've walked to the park with my kids one time since surgery. My main focus has been to remain hydrated, after that Protein, per my surgeons instructions. I also am on a very strict limiting liquid diet that I hate more than anything, but am following for one more week. Some I've noticed got to eat mush after a week, some ate mush at the hospital. It's all so different, it's no wonder there are such a variation of results.

So far I've dropped about 30 pounds from my pre liquid diet weight but then again I haven't really eaten whole foods. I am starting to feel a little hungry (hoping today is different since I start mushy's) but still loosing every few days.

Whew!!! I don't want to show up on Friday for my post op and the doctor wonder why I haven't lost 50 pounds. I have realized some places I messed up but I'm trying to correct them (like 1 cup portions) this week I have felt hungry most of the time. Hoping the fill helps that.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.

Lost my Pup last month and struggled really hard for that first month. Stopped tracking intake and slid into old habits here and there. Also quit working out. Can't walk in the neighborhood because of all of the memories we shared. Losing my Pup is the most heartbreaking thing I've ever been through. My Pup was my world 💔
Talked to my doc during my one year followup and they were not worried about my current status. They know, and I know, that I will get back on track.

I'm so sorry. I lost my pup (Mr. Bitters - a chocolate Pomeranian) 2 years ago and it still makes me tear up. He was my everything - my constant companion. I understand. Do the best you can to get back on track.
