HELLO FROM COLORADO

Recommended Posts

HI EVERYONE,

MY LAP-BAND SURGEON WAS DR. SNYDER FROM COLORADO.

I got banded about a week ago and it has been hell. it sucks to drink just liquids if I had other liquids to drink then it might be easier but Water and Isopure and chicken broth isn't all that great. Never really been on a discussion forum but I figured I might as well try it cause this is one hard thing to go on your own if no one knows what you're going through. I was always a big girl, almost everyday in kindergarten we went to Mac Donald's and that was the killer i always went outside to play but guess that wasn't enough. So if anyone has any tips they can share it would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome and Congrats on getting your band! :welldone2: I was also banded last week so I feel your pain. I've gone a little beyond the rules though and tried some thin Soups and had a few tastes of yogurt. I considered my 2 week pre-op diet totally brutal. I'm doing a bit better now that I'm banded, I feel like there is a light at the end of the tunnel at least and I'll be eating again eventually. Good Luck to you with your weight loss. I've been big since I was really little too and know the struggle. I kept my fast food habbits into adulthood though, it's so easy and always tastes good. I really feel this band will allow me to seperate myself from that lifestyle though. What about you? ^_^

I hope it gets easier from here, the only thing that sucks is that my one week post op wont be for another week and its killing me reading all these stories that say they got to have full liquids and then to have my family still eat whatever they want, I guess i just have to look forward to eating real food soon.

Hello Smile, I am also from Colorado and am having my LapBand from Dr. Snyder as well on the 14th of April. How was your hospital stay? Did you need to stay overnight? They either have me scheduled at 10 or 12. I have to call next week to get the correct time. So just wondering how long total you were there?

Hang in there. ;)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
