This has been Pretty Easy so Far.....

Recommended Posts

I'm supposed to get my 2nd fill tomorrow morning....and I'm not sure if I should! I'm eating such reasonable portions with little problem right now that I'm almost afraid to. But I'm so curious to know if this fill will be just perfect...or if where I'm at today IS perfect! Guess I'm gonna find out.......

If you're content where you're at, why restrict yourself more? If the scale is moving/inches are dropping and your portions are pretty good, I wouldn't get a fill! That was my main reason for not getting one; I can eat what I want, up to 1.5 cups, and be full for 3-4 hours. I see no reason to push it any further, especially since my loss was pretty constant.

So far, things have been easy for me too. I felt restriction from the beginning and never went through bandster hell like so many people do. I have had 1 fill since getting banded and that was more because I was getting hungry about 2 hours after eating. My portion sizes have never been an issue because I weigh and measure everything unless I am eating out and then I am very careful about what I order and how much of it I eat. I really think the big thing for me is that I worked with a therapist before surgery to help me address the reasons I was overeating and that helped me have my head in the right place before having surgery. I do journal every day...I'm a bit "type A" so I just really not the kind of person who can go out and wing it...it would absolutely drive me insane! The hardest part for me has been getting in my exercise...I would like to do it 5-6 days a week but right now I have only been doing 3-4 and that is just riding my stationary bike at home (or walking). I am thinking about joining a gym because I need to start doing something other than just the bike, but I am just not motivated to do it...

I can't complain. I got the lapband, I make an effort to keep more Protein in the house and eat that as much as possible.....and well, honestly I haven't worked much harder than that. It's really been easy so far. I know I could lose more weight faster if I remembered to drink my Water and exercised more, but I gotta honestly say I'm losing weight without really working too hard at it.

What about you guys? Honestly Now, is it pretty easy for most of you, or is it a real struggle still to eat right and less?

I feel the same about it being wasy so far, I ws banded on 3-23-11 and am on my way to great recovery !! So far I started at 267 and i am at 255 as of today so thats good. I am on 3 protien shakes a day only and trully feel full after them, i stretch them out every 4-5 hours cuz i am not hungry. My Surgeon filled me up with 6 cc on surgery date so im sure it will be a bit till i know if i need a fiil or not.

Cant wait to start eating some mushie food !!! Im not too hungry even though i feel my tummy rumble.

Not much pain, sleeping ok, and i get stronger and stronger everyday !

Good luck to all, and i am too also glad to see some positive posts. Af first i was a little scared reading some of the stories, i felt like i was waiting for the bad to happen, but i have a gret surgon and TRI STATE BARIACTRICS IS GREAT !!!!!

I have it very easy compared to the struggles some people on here seem to have.

I have had 2 small fills (I'm at 2.5 in a 10 cc band) and that is my perfect spot. Enough pressure to curb hunger, but not tight enough to cause me a single problem so far. I can eat what I want, but because I'm not hungry and I'm losing weight at about a 10lb a month rate, I'm continually reinforced for making good decisions.

I absolutely do not feel like I'm on a diet. I don't count calories or anything else, and that, to me, is what makes this easy.

I am glad to see this thread. I also feel that the success I have had has not been more difficult than I imagined it would be. I pretty much eat What I want, but in very small portions. I don't journal but do try and make Protein a priority. The band does not let me eat bread, potato chips and french fries because I get stuck on them. The fact that I have probable eaten a total of one medium size fry (total) since I have been banded is probably the reason for half of my weight loss! This has been the best decision for me. I run about 20 miles a week so im doing my part as well, but I know this was the only way I was going to lose the weight. The last 35 will be harder....I know. I am gearing up for a stricter food plan to get the last bit off. I am skiing this week in colorado and am enjoying myself after skiing hard each day. By the way...I had to buy new ski pants...size large and I keep having to hike them up on the slopes :) I run the half marathon in one month ...I know I will achieve my goal weight...im just having fun getting there! Ifit takes me longer to get there with that attitude than im ok with it!

I'm 3 months out, and it's been too easy, but my problem wasn't what I ate, it was how much. I hardly ever ate any sweets other than ice cream, but I could polish off a whole rack of ribs or a whole pizza myself if it tasted good. I gorged at all-you-can-eat Chinese buffets. Now, 2 ribs or 2 small slices of pizza and I'm full. I haven't had a fill yet, but I'm losing and have dropped from a size 28 to a size 20. I haven't had any problems really except for rice and I have to be careful about bread and Pasta only because I love it and if I don't watch myself I'll go beyond my full signal. I think it's easy for me because it's a built-in Portion Control. No matter how good it tastes, I can only put down so much before I get sick, and since I absolutely hate to throw up (and fight it tooth and tongue) I'm pretty good about stopping way before I reach that point.

Wow that's amazing weight loss so far! I'm not really a fast loser, but a lot of my problem also was just over-eating. Since choosing healthy foods wasn't that hard anyway, now that portions are under control it makes for good changes in eating habits :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
