Rainydayz 3 Posted March 28, 2011 My psych eval. is tomorrow morning. I couldn't get an appt. with the dr. I wanted so i went with the second choice in the papers the surgeon's office gave me. I knew the first one was in my insurance network but when I couldn't get him I made an appt. with the other one not checking if he was in my network or not. Tonight it dawned on me to check and he's NOT! So now I either have to pay for the late-cancellation charge or go through with it and just pay for it hoping my insurance will reimburse me something. I have no idea what it will cost. I might be worth it just to cancel and wait for the other one to have an opening. What do you all think? Has anyone had to pay out of pocket for their psych? My whole entire experience is out of pocket; including the surgery. I am sure the psych eval is minimal. I would pay it and hope for re-imbursement; if not, you haven't slowed down your surgery path. (A small price to pay to get going with your "new beginning") Best of luck to you. Dena
Rainydayz 3 Posted March 28, 2011 Yeah, you're right. I'm going. Who knows when I could get an appt. with the other one. I couldn't even get through on the phone to them. I don't want to delay this any longer.
jenn79co 13 Posted March 28, 2011 My psych eval was $50, that was the only thing my insurance didn't cover. Hopefully it won't cost you much.
Rainydayz 3 Posted March 28, 2011 OK, well good news. The psych was in my network. Bad news, for some reason this takes 4 visits. Yuck. Today I just gave my basic history, family history, weight history etc. Next time she says I will take a test. Next time we will talk about the test. And I'm not sure what the 4th time is for. Oh well. At least the ins. will pay for most of it.

Rainydayz 3 Posted March 28, 2011 Yeah, that's what I thought too. Now I know why the other one they recommended first was so booked up. It probably doesn't take so many visits. Oh well. At least I know they'll do what the insurance needs because they've done it for my surgeon a lot.
jenn79co 13 Posted March 28, 2011 Wow, I guess I had it easy. I had to do a 100 question scantron test.
ElizabethNYC 1 Posted March 28, 2011 I would just go because they are the hardest doctor's to get appt's with!! I had to pay out of pocket for my evaluation. I think it was about $200. Hope it goes well!!
Jonna 4 Posted March 28, 2011 I went to my Psych evaluation was in November and I haven't seen a bill yet. I believe she and the surgeon are in together and the whole thing is kind of in together. I haven't even seen a bill from my first visit to the surgeon, which was November 9th.
Rainydayz 3 Posted March 29, 2011 Well I asked the receptionist how much they charged for the evaluation and she said $200. I was there less than 30 minutes yesterday, so I guess what they do is split it up into 4 30-minute sessions? So silly if you ask me. (But nobody did!) Anyway I'm not sure if I'll have to pay a copay for each visit or not. probably. But whatever. At least it is getting done and I'm getting closer!
