I had my surgery 9 months ago and I just want to tell you not to stop eating everything. The key is moderation. Try things, just a bite or two 5-7 minutes apart. Unfortunately popcorn won't be one of them. Don't deprive yourself or you will figure out a way to eat it anyway. I enjoy trying things just a bite or two but I pick my battles for example I won't waste my time on store bought items but will try a friends homemade something. I eat small portions 2.5 to 3 hours apart and I really don't have to fight hunger. I am able to resist things that I know aren't good for me. Try Isopure, it tastes like gatoraide and got me through many a day when I didn't get enough Protein in.(many flavors). Something no one told me, after a fill you will be on liguid for 24 hours. Ididn't plan for that the first time. Good luck. I don't regret my decision for a minute. I am down 50lbs and feeling great. Try eating a 4 oz yogurt taking a bite every 5 minutes for the two weeks. It fills you up and gets you in practice for eating slowly. That is the key to success.

I am in a similar situation as the original poster and I have to say that your suggestion about eating the yogurt bites 5 minutes apart sounds like a good idea. I just went to Trader Joes and bought Fat Free Greek Yogurt cups and I think I'll do that for Breakfast tomorrow! I really intended for today to be the start of my pre-op self imposed diet but I failed because I went shopping hungry.

I have Muscle Milk chocolate but I just tried the unjury vanilla and it is really yummy! You can order it online. They actually make special mixes for Bariatric patients. The trick I have found is to add about 1/2 of a small packet of Splenda or Truvia. No extra calories and a bit sweet. Hang in there and let us know how you are doing. I have found everyone on here really supportive.

I just ordered myself the Unjury starter pack after reading this. I am planning a taste test before my surgery so that I have a supply on hand for all my liquid diet days both before and after surgery so that I am prepared with only the best shakes!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
