so worried that insurance wont approve me for surgery

Recommended Posts

Hi I am so worried that I wont qualify for surgery and theres no way I can afford to self pay. I have a BMI of 34. I can gain 7 lbs and I'll have a BMI of 35. I have co-morbidities , high cholesterol, depression, back pain, shoulder pain from the size of my chest 44 DDD,I'm not sure if I have sleep apnea need to be tested,I snore real loud I'm told, I'm pre-diabetic, gastric reflux, shortness of breath and all this isnt enough. My primary care physician said he will give me a letter of medical neccessity I have been to a seminar and have chose the surgeon that I want. I'm mailing the patient profile and all the other paperwork required tomorrow. I want the lapband so bad. I envy all of you that have it. Ive tried so many diets. I have never been able to reach my goal weight let alone keep it off. I keep researching weight loss surgery and decided on the band. I read all the questions and stories too. Every night I pray that I will get approved for surgery. Good luck to all of you who have the band and to those of you like myself who are trying to get the band. For those of you that have it ,you are very lucky

Borrow a heavy pair of ankle weights, or buy them.

Strap them with a thin belt around your waist or somewhere comfterable.

You will think of a way. There scale is different then yours, and if you need the extra

weight do it.. Down the back, under the bust, around the thigh. Just make sure you do something.

My surgeon, the pockets get emptied, and the shoes come off. So,,, you could have to empty the pockets.

So do something under the loose cloths. I would suggest the thigh, just in case he wants to see your stomach.

You will get in, because they don't strip you down.

I don't think you or me are gonna go to HELL for this one, and you can get done.

Shirley.

Toni, I am wondering if you are depending on insurance to cover this? You know, I probably would suddenly gain weight, wear pants bigenough to hide the ankle weights! Ha! Insurance makes you jump through hoops, but it is good to have if there are complications. Good luck and I will pray that things work out for you. Kelley

Do you think she's really in this to gain weight!

Give that a thought.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
