ONEderland!!!!

Recommended Posts

I just weighed at am in ONEderland for the first time in about 20 yrs!! I have always been very overweight. I wore a size 24/26 from Lane Bryant in 5th grade. I have never known what it is like to be a normal weight or wear clothes that were age appropriate for me. Before my PreOp diet I was 326lbs. The day of surgery I was 300lbs. I am now at 199lbs! I would still like to lose another 50lbs but dont know if that is out of reach. I have a fair amount of excess skin and dont have the finances to have cosmetic surgery. I am so thrilled to be out of the 200's! This was a milestone in my life that I never thought I would see. I am 29 yrs old, I wasted my teens and twenties being super obese. My 30's and on will be at a healthy weight. LapBand has saved my life! I feel like I could jump high enough to reach the clouds today!!

This is ONEderful!

I'm so happy to see younger people having this surgery. I gained my weight with my kids and have been huge for 25 years. You've done the right thing taking care of the problem while you are still young. I've sat on the sidelines the whole time my kids were growing up and they only know me as fat.

Congratulations on taking control! Now you can really LIVE!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
