I was just banded on Wednesday March 23rd and I am wondering if i can start my full liquids yet? My sheet says 1 to 2 days post op but the full liquids page says 1 to 2 weeks. Does that mean I am on full liquids for 2 to 3 weeks or wait until I see the doctor next week before I can start them. I am so confused. Can I get some advice!!!!!???

Every Dr.'s plan is a little different. I was Clear Liquids for 3 days post op, then heavier liquids for 4 days to finish out 1 week. Then mushies for 2 weeks, and solids after that.

Like she said all doctors plans are different. I was only on liquids for 24 hours after surgery then moved right to pureed foods for 2 weeks, then soft foods for 2 weeks.

Best to call your doctor and make sure you are following their plan correctly!!

Yep, every surgeon is different. Here's a 3rd version, I was on Clear Liquids for a week, creamier liquids for a week, mushies for a week, and now regular foods. Good luck!

I was on clear liquids for 2 days postop, then full liquids for two weeks. I'll be starting a soft foods phase for two weeks then it's on to solids. I guess every surgeon has their preferred diet.

Hi,

Its amazing how every doctor is so different. Basically, I was on Clear Liquids for 1 week, now finishing up full liquids on week 2. Then will be "mushies" for week 3... then most regular foods for week 4. I really like how my doctor spelled everything out DAY by DAY..... I am a self pay so his instructions are very important to me and I don't want to move through anything too fast to mess things up. The day I had my surgery was condidered day 0. So you could start day 1 as the 24th and work your way ahead from there. Good luck... It's been pretty easy for me so far rolleyes.gif

Thanks for the advice everyone. I started out my day with cream of wheat like my booklet said and I havent had any problems. So I guess I will follow the rest of the page and stick with this until my doctors visit on Thursday. Thanks again.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
