So happy to say my surgery was a success!!!! Had the surgery at about 7:45 am 3/23...woke up with slight pain but I was more cold than in pain. No pain in the incisions well just a little bit tender where the port is. No gas pains {knock on wood...lol}! I just get a little stiff if I sit to long, but other than that everything is going well! So happy about my decision!

Thats Awesome! I was also banded on the 23rd. I woke up wilth not alot of pain but very sick to my stomach. Was given nausia meds and by the time I was home the sickness went away but the gas kicked in! I was misarable till about 4 oclock yesterday. Today I am feeling great wilth only some slight pain where my port is and in one of the incisions. It has a bruise the size of a small orange. I have gone down 18 pounds since I started my liquid diet 2 two weeks ago. I know you know how I feel today! Like its the begining of a new day and a new way of life!!!!!!! Good luck to you!

My surgery was also 3/23! I was very sore when I woke up and I've had a small amount of gas pain - nothing too bad. The port incision is VERY sore. I overdid it today (shopping with my teenage daughter for a dress for a dance) and I am feeling it right now.

Still not hungry. I am a little in awe that the last time I ate was Tuesday afternoon and here it is - Friday night - and NOTHING.

I am having a hard time getting in my required amount of clear liquids! How are you two doing?

Congratulations ladies!! We're band sisters...lol

I'm not really hungry either! I stayed over night in the hospital they gave me chicken broth, sugar free Jello, sugar free popsisicles{so good} & apple juice. I was nauseas about an hr after I had to drink that contrast crap to make sure there were no leaks...I threw all that crap up...ugh! But I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I don't get the gas pains but I've been up walking around so hopefully they don't come!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
