I am having my surgery on April 1st. Any advice on Protein shakes. I was wondering about getting the Pure unflavored Protein. Has anyone tried it? Also does anything do the flintstone chewable Vitamins. I am wanting to get them and then drink ovaltine 2 times a day. I'm nervous about how much liquids to drink and how much liquid over what period of time.. Please let me knwo any advice you may have.. some words of encouragement even =)

My BMI currently 40.3. Weight is 215lbs. Goal weight is 125lbs.

When do you have to start your pre-op diet? Does your nutritionist recommend anything? For me, the pre-op was provided as part of the cost and it was Meditrim...2 shakes and One Bar per day plus 2 cups of vegetables (certain ones weren't allowed) and Water and unsweetened liquids. For after, I was on my own to find stuff. I like the Premier Protein drinks at Costco...best tasting ones I've found and they have 30g of Protein. Also, there are chewable Vitamins out there that aren't kids Vitamins, in case you're interested. Does your nutritionist or surgeon provide you with any guidelines? I had a whole package with recommended foods for the liquid, mushy and solid stage. You should probably be getting more info from your people.

I know it's hard not to, but don't worry! The surgery and the first few days are a bit rough but eventually they will be a thing of the past and you will be on your way to a new you!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
