Very hungry and tired of Clear Liquids. Can't wait to start on full liquids. The band is a great motivator. Don't want to mess it up by eating something I'm not suppose to. Tomorrow marks a week since surgery and I started to feel hungry on Wednesday. I can't start on full liquids until Monday after I see the surgeon's nurse. I am going to have some Jello and a Popsicle. I keep telling myself that it will get easier when I get something more substantial in my guts.

Try the special K Protein Powder drink mixes...they have a raspberry lemonade and a kiwi strawberry that are both good. They add 6 g Protein to a bottle of Water, are yummy, low calorie and the protein will really help with the hunger!

Clear liquids for a week doesn't make sense since every medical site I've found out there says that you don't get adequate nutrition from clear liquids and shouldn't stay on them for more than 4-5 days...although I suppose you could get those clear Protein 'shooters' from GNC. At least then you'd get your Protein in which might help with the hunger.

This is what the surgeon's recommendation and the nutritionists told me to do. it is one week, clear liquids, one week, full liquids, etc. It is very strict from what I have read and I cheated today. I have been on clear liquids for 10 days (2 days pre-op) and a week now. I was told not to proceed with my diet until I meet with the surgeon on Monday. It is impossible...I ate the sugar free pudding and a Protein shake and feel so much better. They are a center for excellence but this is a crazy diet. I even had a cup of Decaf coffee with a splash of cream tonight. She told me not to drink decaf coffee or decaf tea. I am fine and I'm not gonna worry about it.

Those clear protein shooters from Walmart suck. Hopefully, GNC have some better ones.

THAT SUCKS

personally i would have a Protein Shake if you cant take it anymore

my doc put me on full liquids the day after surgery

its too late now but if you called them they may have told you what i just did

is there a 24 hour number you can call?

i never would have made it that long on clear liquid

you need your protein..........but all the damn docs are different

good luck!

I've been fighting hunger pains since I was banded last Saturday (3/19). I'm also looking forward to eating something that requires teeth :-) I go on solid food next Wednesday - It will be 'soft' solids, but who cares after 10 days of liquid only. I'm a single parent to a 12 year old, and Friday is/was our 'Pizza Night'. I got a pie for her last night - it wasn't hard until I went to bed, and then it started talking to me. But, I'm still on the straight and narrow. I've lost 25 pounds since I went on the pre-op food plan of 1200 calories a day. Good luck on your journey. May you always have fair winds and following seas.

You are a strong man. pizza Hut pizza may have broke me. My husband brought him happy meals for the kids on Friday night. I licked one fry and throw it away. I then went into hiding until they were done eating. Saturday night my in-laws and a good friend from the state of Cal (we live in PA) came over. They went to Sheetz (local gas station/food place) for chilli dogs and fries. Also brought home my favorite--deep fried cheese sticks and nachos. I had a V8 splash blended with ice and sat at the table with them. I asked them to eat the cheese sticks and nachos so I wouldn't be tempted at midnight. I have renewed strength. It is hard but we can do it. And once in a while (granted great while) we can have a little "bad" food. Just not like I would have ate it before. We will make it through and feel and be healthier for it.

licked one fry is too funny!! I remember those first few weeks... it was really hard....let me assure you, it does get easier!!! That time before your first fill is terrible. I got banded Nov. 3rd and had my first fill Dec. 23. and those were 6 wks of Bandster Hell!! I was starving.... I remember chewing a fry and spitting it out.... I learned later that "chewing and spitting" is a eating disorder, so I stopped doing that!!! but it did feel good to chew something!~ good luck!!

LOL...I thought of the chewing and spitting disorder but I wanted one so bad. I realized immediately that it wasn't good to do that. I can't say that it hasn't crossed my mind...haha. So hard. I know it will get easier...the one thing I can say is that I have more will power than I ever thought I did--even with my lapse with the sugar free pudding--I followed the damn surgeon's (and nutritionist) orders to the letter.

I can't wait to have my post op appt. tomorrow....and to see how fast I can proceed through the rest of these stages.

I took a personal day from work on Friday, one of those "mental health" days, where I stay in my pjs all day and do, well, nothing if I want to. Anyway, I was sitting in my husband's recliner looking for the TV remote when I found it. An open bag of my absolutely favorite kettle cooked potato chips. I looked at the dog and asked him if he thought it would hurt if I ate a few, and his impatience at my waiting to open the bag made me do it. I popped one in my mouth and gave him one. Before I could even taste it, I popped in two more. I offered the dog a second and he balked. It was then that I began to taste what was in my mouth. No wonder the dog didn't want another one. It was like I had taken a spoonful of coagulated bacon grease. It was the most disgusting taste and feeling like I was going to puke, I immediately ran to the sink pulled the trashcan out from the cabinet and spit. Never in a million years did I ever think I'd hate a potato chip so badly.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
