I was on a 2ish week pre-op diet from Feb 11 until feb 28, lost 23 lbs. I was denied by my insurance so the following week I went back to eating my old ways. Then, I was approved (lol) so I went back to my pre-op diet. I had gained about 10 lbs back.

So now, I've been on the pre-op diet from Mar 15 until today (continuing until my surgery Tuesday 3/29 !!!) and I am back down those 10 lbs but I haven't been losing anymore weight. I haven't gained anymore but I haven't lost any either. Is this common?

4 Protein shakes / day (they recommended Bariatric Advantage... i use a kind i got from Walmart and another kind i got from a nutrition store) and i make them with Water instead of milk

1 high Protein low carb meal (i've been eating either green Beans & baked chicken, or baked steak)

they had a list of foods that were available that i could eat but i didnt like any of the other stuff lol. oh and i can have sugar free Jello, sugar free popsicles, cucumbers, and celery (as free foods)

also, i've been trying to keep my carb count below 30g / day lol

My surgeon wanted me to lose weight, He didn't tell me how much....

I lost 40lbs., he said he wanted 50lbs.,,,

Looked at me and said, "at least you tried!"

He did the surgery, and no complaints at all.

I guess as long as he is getting paid,, he'll perform surgery.

My doc didn't give any specific amount of weight to lose. I just hope that whatever is happening in my body is a good thing.

I will only have been on my liquid diet for 8 days when I have my surgery. I had never heard back from the office and apparently someone forgot to call me to tell me I was approved and to come in for my final visit to talk about diet and consent forms. It's all straightened out now, but I'm worried about only being on the diet for one week. This diet is so hard, I am on the all liquid diet, drinking shakes, and not eating food at all. I am unsure why some people on here are able to eat small amounts of food and some are liquid only! I wonder what the difference is.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
