BooKoo 32 Posted March 24, 2011 Are u drinking fluids with your meals??
TracyNYC 4 Posted March 24, 2011 My guidelines are: Three 1/2 cup meals a day with most being Protein. No Snacks (yeah right)-lite laughing cow cheeses or cheese stick will do. and Protein Shakes in between. Don't drink 1/2 hour before or after eating. Be patient and let the fills work. It is a slow process and I reached really good restriction after 6 months and 3 fills. Hang in there....
Humming Bird 275 Posted March 25, 2011 Don't let yourself give up so soon. A couple of fills and you will be on the road to skinnyville
DawnPA 0 Posted March 25, 2011 hello everyone i have put regular food in my mouth haven't had a fill yet but i feel so hungry and i don't eer fil full only after i have ate to much why do feel like that someone help me please is this normal how much im i suppose to be eating Tegan, I had my lap band surgery on March 1, 2011. My doctor told me that this is the hardest time of the whole process before you get your fill, he said you will be hungry and he said some of his patients cry when they come to him because they hardly lost any weight, he warned me about this period and said just stay on healthy choices and once you have the fill you will be losing again. I start regular food on Monday, but I can tell you that I have eaten some food and it does not bother me, I have not gotten sick yet but I guess that is because we do not have it filled. I plan to just eat healthy and do not eat any fatty foods or fried, that is my plan. so try your best to eat healthy choices and hang in there it will get better. I am trusting my doctor on that!! Hang in there!!!!
54Shirley 105 Posted March 25, 2011 This is a step by step process. Every time you get a fill,,,, you get closer to being content without not eating often. It's called a sweet spot, But you have to get there first. You don't want to be overfilled, and be in the (RED ZONE) Cant swallow saliva.. So it is a slow step by step progress. It's also slow to take the weight of, so don't get to disappointed to fast. You are just starting, and your starving. I know how you feel. When you can eat thicker foods like puddings, cream Soups, stuff that will fill you up even flavored oatmeal. Just try not to go to crazy and go over your calories. Protein Shakes are good for that, they help kill the hunger. There are people on this site that have answers to your questions. Just remember,,, everyone is different. You have to take charge, and responsibility for you though. Try the thicker Protein Shake, and see if it helps kill the appetite some. Keep in touch,
ElfiePoo 109 Posted March 25, 2011 The most important thing you can do is find a WOE that you can live with long-term. That may be Weight Watchers, Atkins, general low carb or just counting calories. Then use something like fitday.com or livestrong.com and record what you eat. Sometimes we think we're doing well but when we record it, are a bit horrified to find how far off we really are. Then start on that plan now. I'm a diabetic and I've found that the only way to get rid of my hunger and physical cravings is to eliminate grains, starches, glutens, sugar (obviously) and even artificial sweeteners. I've always kept my carbs low, but it wasn't until I eliminated everything but vegie carbs, that I finally got the hunger under control, but you do what works for you. Some people aren't as sensitive to the carbs. As many find, even when they get to the sweet spot, they still struggle because while their stomach is banded, their brain isn't and it still takes self-control to choose the right foods and choose to put the fork down. If you can start to make those changes now, you'll be ahead of the game when the band starts helping. .

I haven't gotten a fill yet and I hope once I get filled I will feel less hungry. I wish you the best and at least I know someone else has similar issues. We just have to keep trying to make the right choices...it won't be easy but in the end it will be worth it.
