I'm Feeling Foxy!

Recommended Posts

They say, "You're only as sick as your secrets."

I've been keeping most of my really fat pictures secret from you guys, so I thought I'd share a couple. They are very humiliating. Today I can very proudly say that I've lost 76 pounds since the beginning of my band journey. I'll ask hubby to take some current photos so Penni can make them into a side-by-side for me to update the Before & After thread, but I feel compelled to share these with my LBT family through choked-back tears.

Here's dying Lisa:

Keep up the great work you have been doing recently Lisa! You are looking fantastic. I will do the big reveal for my original picture when I was at my biggest and had taken myself off to Glamour shots thinking with some sort of picture magic they could make me less fat. I guess there wasn't enough vaseline in the world that would help. ;-)

And here's me a few months ago. I'm struggling to maintain what I've lost and lose more, but JUST FOR TODAY I'm so thrilled happy that I'll burst if I don't share. Sometimes we need to give ourselves a well deserved hand, so here's mine!

Look at that change. You looked great in your heavy pictures but you are definately looking foxy now. You should be proud of your accomplishment - plus look at how great you have done since surgery. Thanks for sharing. Celeste

Thanks everyone! I wish everyone would post more pics. ShelliJ's pictures inspire me and keep me away from goodies. Maybe I'll make a whole wallboard of all my before & after bandster friends. I'm inspired by all you people. Life was so lonely before LBT, so I have all you to thank!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
