3, 6, 12 months after being banded

Recommended Posts

I was banded in May of 2013. To-date I have lost 159lbs. I went from a size 22 in pants and a size 3XL in shirts to a size 2-3 in pants and sm/med in shirts.

Height 5'1"

Pre Op Weight 289lbs. ( all of the weight loss stats below includes the 16lbs I lost during the pre-op diet)

3 Months- 60lbs down

6Months- 91 lbs down

12 Months- 144 lbs down (past my original goal weight by 5lbs)

15 Months- 159 lbs down

Today Maintaining my loss for a year.

There is NOT ONE THING I don't love about my band! I would do it again in a heart beat! The band is a tool not an overnight fix-all, it's a lot of work, you have to make the right choices, follow your doctors orders to the T and believe in yourself! If you're committed to doing your part the band will do it's job and you will be successful!

Best wishes to you! You can do this!

Let's see PRE op I was 320 lbs ,that's starting then pre op diet of v2 Protein Shakes & a small salad with either a little ground chicken or ground turkey with lemon juice & distilled white vinegar to my liking for dressing for 2 Weeks , then at time of surgery I was 276lbs then about 1 yr I was at 180, then another 6 months & I couldn't get past a 172 lbs then I changed up & did the 5 day pouch test & started eating even more Protein & drinking a lot more Water , now it's been a while & I am 167 , MY Surgeon is happy & says I lost half my body weight , I am SO GLAD I CHOSE TO HAVE THE BAND IT REALLY HAS HELPED ME yes MY goal is to get to 135 , but THAT'S MY GOAL NOT MY SURGEONS OR ANYONE ELSE'S , BUT I WOULDN'T CHANGE ANYTHING , AGAIN I AM SOOO GLAD I DID IT oh by the way I was wearing a size 3X shirt & a size 52 in dickies men's work pants & 26_28 W in women's pants & jeans now I wear a medium shirt & a size 12 pants in women's & I am not sure in men's any more since I don't have to LOL I will wear a 14 only because I don't like my pants real tight because I am still afraid of the past stomach issues I had like major I.B.S. wich I only get when real stressed but otherwise that has also changed.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
