I got my lap band on March 7th and am experiencing left side pain which worsens when I eat. Could the band have slipped already?? This is the 2nd night that it's bad but not like last night. I'm sitting with a heating pad. Hoping for some info. if anyone out there has had the same thing. Perplexed and in pain!

Hello, I remember I had side pain a few times after getting my band. I think I was still swollen from surgery maybe. It went away. I think I was eating a little too much and maybe drinking too much. I don't know, but that side pain did leave.

I had that left side pain for about 3 weeks after surgery. Mine would not go away. I had to be careful how I sat, how fast I got up, and could not make any sudden movements. The pain was so severe that I slept sitting in the couch for 2 weeks. I had a hernia removed after surgery, or so they say, so not sure if that had anything to do with it. I was not able to return to work a week later, was actually off for 3 weeks.

I think everyone is different. The pain will go away, but it takes time. I am two months post op and I dont feel any pain, not even when I get my fills. I am able to sleep on my tummy and toss and turn and no pain.

Hang in there. I am sure that it will go away. But if it does not, talk to your doctor about it.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
