hit a plateau .. any ideas?

Recommended Posts

I was banded 3/2 and lost 20 lbs during the first two weeks. I started on full liquids and mushy foods last Wednesday 3/16 and today is a week since than and I weighed myself. I have not lost a single ounce. I also returned to work and the gym since that time. I only went to the gym 3 times and walked an hour on the tred mill each time, but the other days I worked. I am a nursing assistant and work twelve hour shifts. I was very nervous about going back to work because it is a very physical job. Basically, for 11 out of the 12 hrs I am on my feet running around since I work in a Emergency Room. However, I was tired .. but made it through my 3 .. 12 hrs shifts like normal. I was out of work for 18 days and was not nearly as physical as I was this past week and I still have no results on the scale. On a daily bases I have 1 hard boiled egg for Breakfast, 3-5 oz of low fat cottage cheese for l unch, for dinner i will have around 3-5 oz of tuna salad, chicken salad, and a small cup of veggie Soup or something. Oh since I been back to work I started drinking coffee again, but I use a little 2 percent milk and one equal and roughly 75 oz of Water a day..Am I eatting to much? Shouldn't I be loosing something? Any ideas ? My band isn't filled at all yet, I know some doctors put a little in at surgrey, but I have to wait 6 weeks. Does that have anything to do with it?

Hi,

You might actually be eating too little. Especially based on the physical demands of your job, your body might be holding on to every pound it can because it has gone into starvation mode. Try bringing your calories up and see if that helps.

Also, my doctor said don't worry too much about losing weight before the first fill. The body is healing and getting used to this new way receiving and processing food. Once you have your first fill, then you should start losing weight.

Hope that helps a little.
