I was banded on the 10th of March 2011. I feel much better now but I have been experiencing a lot of hunger. I am tired of just drinking the shakes. I started experiencing a sharp pain on my left side, should I be worried? I will see the doctor tomorrow, but I am concerned now because I ate food. I chewed my food as much as I could enough to make it very mushy in my mouth, but still it was Taco Bell Food. I am out of control even after the surgery! Has anyone experienced this and can you provide some good and positive feedback.

we have so much in common........to start my moms name is Claudia...Awesome name okay now back to the subject at hand i was banded on 2-28-11 i initially wanted the gastric bypass but there were complications and prior to surgery i consented to get the lap band if need be and so here i am for a reason... so with all the stress and worry that went towards surgery you would think that i would obey all the instructions #1 liquid diet for two week....i didn't by day four i had indulged in three jumbo fried shrimp and the next day five mcdonalds fries and one nugget and my stomach and shoulder would be so crampy and annoying so i read walking help vigorous walking so i joined the gym got a trainer cause some of the after op pics had extra skin from weight loss and so far so good sneeky junk food my dumb self had gotten depressed and consumed a whole mex pizza and i'm keeping off the weight for sure get the Protein Drinks and food to try and supplement i did a broccoli carrot onion and peas Soup with garlic powder and olive oil sooooo delicious but do your best try to be active it helps with the pain mines is gone nobody is perfect....sorry for rambling my starting weight 265lbs-255lbs goal weight 140lbs.....i think Portion Control via lap band and calories not exceeding 1800 per day is keeping the scale to lower no sodas crystal light is our best friend and Water good luck sweetheart you'll be fine minimal indulges your only human my total lost so far is 11lbs no fill yet but soon i'm making it happen surprisingly and take Zumba if u can it will devour taco bell burning those calories if u want

You are going to be hungry its normal but you can not up your diet just because you are tired of the shakes. You are on liquids for a reason. I would go back to them until your doctor says its okay to eat other foods.

You definately will be hungry!! It's unavoidable....it's the worst thing ever!! but it does get better. Drink lots of Water and try to find a good low-fat, but hearty Soup that will fill you up. I know you are tired of drinking shakes and Soups. In fact I started eating refried black Beans and scrambled eggs before I was supposed to... and nothing bad happened. Run it by your Dr. and let him know that you need more to eat and maybe he'll progress you to mushies early. Before I got my first fill... I felt like I was hungry all the time!! even more so than before I got the band!! I had to wait a full 6 wks before I got my first fill. That helped alot. I've had my 3rd fill now and I rolling right along. Stick with it and listen to you Dr. best of luck~~ BamaMom (Amy)

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
