Had first fill today. Now have 5 cc my 11 cc band. Feel kinda strange. Not really tight exactly, just strange. Was told I can continue on regular foods. Not sure about that. Ate like 5 bites grilled salmon at lunch and feel stuffed. Is this normal?

Wow they said to eat regular foods? That would hurt me after a fill.

Everytime I have had a fill they always say liquids or soft foods for 2 days.

I haven't had a fill yet.... and am planning on my first to be the end of April some time. There are 2 reasons I'm waiting so long to get my first fill; one is that my insurance will only cover it if it's at least 90 days after my surgery and two, I'm going on vacation in early April. My doctor told me that he will have me on liquids for 2 full weeks after the fill (reason why I'm waiting til after my vacation). I haven't seen anyone else on this board having to be on liquids for soooooooooo long. I wonder why my Doc is so strict with this................ ??

You should only be on liquids for 24 to 48 hours some 72 then move your diet back up gradually. I wouldnt be eating fish after a fill. You get swelling in your stomach and it needs time to rest.

My doctor told me also that I can eat whatever is comfortable after my fills. I've had three so far and have 4ccs in a 14cc band. After my first fill I didn't eat solids for two days out of fear. After my second fill I ate 1/2 a chicken breast for dinner and had no problems. With my third fill I stayed on liquids again for two days because I went out of town and didn't want to "try out" the fill on the road :) With this last fill I get full after a couple bites, so I feel that is normal. I would stick with whatever your surgeon says, if he says you can eat solids and they don't bother you, than go ahead. My surgical office is a Center for Excellence and my surgeon actually trains other surgeons how to do the lap band surgery, so I trust what he says completely. Good luck on your journey!

I had my first fill this morning. I'm now at 3cc. That doesn't seem like much compared to some of the posts I've seen, but I'm feeling pretty good. So far. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it keeps me feeling full and isn't so tight that I'm miserable. Cheers

I had my first fill today too. I am on liquids for today, puree tomorrow, then soft and then regular. I was surprised how quickly the fill was completed. I felt an immediate pain in my chest when the saline was put in and still feel some which the doc said was normal. I am nervous about advancing to puree tomorrow but knowing that you ate regular food without issue make me feel better. I know it will be trial and error. Good luck to you and keep us posted on how it goes for you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
