I found out today that my band has slipped. I have been having problems off and on for a few months and finally went to the doctor to get some Fluid taken out and the doc had me get a barium swollow test. Finally talked to the nurse today about the result of the test and was told the doc said if I wasn't better (after having .5 cc's removed 4 days ago) that I would have to have surgery to correct the slip. So I have an appt with the doc in two days. My question is: Has anyone had a band slip and it correct itself by having fluid removed?

I have searched on here for posts about slipped bands and from what I have read, once anyone has had a slip, things never seem to work correctly again and some people have had the band removed or replaced. I was doing better over the weekend, but started getting sick again yesterday and today can't keep anything solid down.

I am self pay so I am assuming any surgery to correct the problem will be out of pocket. I am praying that getting the fluid taken out in two days will correct the problem, but I was hoping to hear from some of you before I see the doctor in two days.

My stomach had slipped up and over the band in 3 places and defilling as a fix wasn't an option. There have been a few posts where the defill fixed things but more posts where surgery was necessary. Give the defill a try, you have nothing to lose.

I wish you the best of luck,

Mimi

Yes, I'm also wondering if self-pay patients have to pay for the surgery to repair the slip. I assume that we would have to pay, but can anyone with experience tell us how much it was for them? I'm with Slimband, if that helps.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
