Well, today is day 26 of being banded. *feb 25/11* I lost about 11lb with in the first 2 weeks of being on Clear Liquids then lost about 3 more lbs over the last two weeks. I have ben discouraged because I am not losing pounds. I know this is normal and I can tell my clothes are falling off and it feels great. However, I am getting in 60-80 Protein and 40-60 fat and 700 -800 calories and 20 -50 carbs. Most carbs have been thru mash sweet potato or yogart. This has been shedding the inches but not weight. Today I decided to start the Atkins induction phase. NO SURGAR and NO more than 20 carbs for 2 weeks. I am very nervous because I am still on the mushy phase of my band so I have little choices to go by. But I am hoping it jump starts my weight loss again. DOES anyone have any other ideas??? Please if you do let me know! LOL I would love to do somthing other than eggs all day! haha I do walk atleast 10 min a day and most of 3x a week I walk 45 min a day. Im up for anyones advice. Also does this sound like it should work?? Im going crazy here

First of all, you are doing great! You have to remember that you are in the healing stage so weight loss isn't your top priority right now and 3 lbs in 2 weeks is right on target (1-2 lbs per week).

Regarding food ideas, I was allowed canned tuna and canned chicken during the mushie stage so tuna salad or chicken salad would work for you during the induction stage of Atkins (if your surgeon allows those as mushies). Everything else I can think of that I ate during mushies would have too many carbs or too much sugar...

Good luck!

If you are still on mushies, I'd just finish healing before going to a diet such as Atkins. The first 6 weeks are for healing. I lost weight the first week post op. Then weeks 2-4 nothing. Sure I was frustrated but I wasn't eating enough calories during my healing. Week 5 I finally got up above 1100 calories and I started losing again. If you want to try it try upping your calories. Some people don't lose if they eAt to little

Thank you for your replies. I really needed someone else's take on the situation. I have heard it is normal to stall in weightloss its just i am sooo scared im going to do something wrong and gain weight and be discouraged. i told my self before the band that it was a TOOL to help me lose weight and its a life time change not a diet. so now here i am going back to wanting to DIET again. lol its ony natural that i want to diet. lol I wonder how people change that thinking?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
