Post Op 10 Days... Questions!!!!!

Recommended Posts

Okay. So I was banded 3/11/11... I lost 27 pounds on the preop diet, but the scale hasn't moved. It's actually went up a little. I've been following the full liquids diet...I've not had any milkshakes or anything. All I eat is creamed Soups (barely) and Tomato Soup...Water, Jello, popsicles. :( When will I start to loose?

Also, they told me... I have a tradition sized band. How large is that? Is that like 10 cc's? I'm not sure. I know they were surprised I didn't have to have the large band which is 14cc's.

Any tips? What should I do?

I too lost a considerable amount of weight on my pre-op diet. Then little to nothing, I talked to my MD and she said that my body was probably in shock and in survivor mode. Give it another few days and you will see a drop on the scale. 27lbs is AWESOME!!!! Remember, you did not put the weight on quickly, so it won't come off quickly B). Good luck with new lifestyle and keep up the good work!!!

Okay that makes sense...I was at 299 by my surgery but now I'm up to 304....My first fill is scheduled for April 19th. I really want to at least get back to 299...I feel really discouraged.

I just want to loose a little.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
