First of all I want to say to all you who are just going in and soon to be going in congrats!!! My thoughts are with you all and I am sure things will go wonderfully.

I am set for April 11, 2011 and I am nervous as well, but then I focus on how ready I am for a change. I've been fighting this battle for a long time and not getting anywhere!!! I've missed out on things with my kids because I was "too tired" or "sick" because of my weight. I don't want to do that anymore. I don't even know who that person is in the mirror anymore when I see them. I don't look on the outside how I feel on the inside, and I can't wait for the 2 to be the same!! Those are the things I think about when I get scared or nervous. It can't be any worse post banded as it is pre banded :)

Best wishes and keep me posted how your all doing.

Thanks! :)

I remember those feelings well,,,,, You will be amazed when you are Banded, and say 1 year goes by, and you are doing the 1200 calorie a day diet.

Then when you look into the mirror ! I thought it was someone else, this was not me... But O YES IT WAS ! I could buy cloths off the rack, I actually had to learn how to shop for myself. Believe it ! You will feel so much better, it's a different life then what we know.

And now I am starting all over again (DR'S GLITCH) ... But I am more then willing to do it because I know what the outcome is. Hang in there, and you will too.

I have some questions about the post surgery diet...what will I be able to eat, how many calories at 2 months, 4 months, etc...

That's up to your surgeon. Usually it's around 1200 calories (WHICH IS A LOT OF food TRUST ME)

Around 60G Protein.

But first while healing you will live off liquids. Protein shakes I think are the best, because you get your Protein, and calories in at the same time, and protein helps kill the hunger ! Your Dr. or Dietitian will give you a list of stuff to have.

Then comes the Mushie stage. So like sugar free puddings, cottage cheese, oatmeal, hearty Soups, etc.

Just don't go over your calorie amount, and you will lose weight. It's a slow process,,,,,,, so give it time.

That's why my ticker has a TURTLE on it. But it does come off

Also this is a fill by fill routine. It's step by step. Every time you get filled you get a little more resistant to hunger. Again,,, next time will be the same thing. Until you find a area where you know how much is in you, and your not hungry for about 5 hrs, and you will eat only 3 or 4 ounces, when you do eat your meals. and you will learn to be very happy with that.

I know now, that if you don't have any fills, or are just thinking about surgery, that seems like you are gonna starve to death or just die ! Not at all. With shakes for protein, proper eating (Protein First), and Vitamins are important, (WE USE FLINTSTONES COMPLETE WITH CHOLINE) ORANGE BOX. You will have energy to burn, and you won't starve to death.

Pre op , post op liquids can get hard Thats why I say the shakes help kill the hunger. That helped me a lot...

Anything else let me know, I'll answer if I can.

Shirley.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
