I'm right there with you! I'm scheduled to check in at 5:45 am on the same date. I'm one of the first cases of the day. I am really nervous and excited. I can't wait to get it over with and be on my way to being a healthier person! I'm trying to be realistic but as positive as possible. Best of luck to you!

Sending prayers up for all that have surgery this week. It is well worth the minor discomfort you with have for 3 or 4 days. And then it is all uphill from there!

yes your nerves tend to get the best of you at times. This was the best decision i have ever made. I started my family eating healthier prior to my surgery so it would not be sucha shock to them as well. I have really enjoyed finding new recipes for my family and also enjoying activities with them again. Best decision i have ever made and look forward to losing more weight.

Good Luck and God Bless!:D

It's normal to be nervous....you'll probably be even more nervous the morning of. I almost bolted for the door. I wasn't really concerned about the procedure itself but the fact that I had let myself get to the point to where I felt surgery was the only option. I just had surgery on 1/11/11 so I'm a newbie. I know everyone is different but my surgery went fine, I was sore for a couple days but it got better a little each day. I was back to work (desk job) in 7 days. I expected to start losing weight right away. I had lost about 14-15 lbs pre-op and hoped I'd have another 5-10 off by the end of January. That didn't happen. I also didn't lose more than a pound or two in February so I was a little disappointed BUT I felt great and hadn't had any weird issues. I had 2 cc's in my band from the get-go and then they added 2 cc's on Feb 22nd. I did liquids again for a day or so (definitely do this after a fill!!!) but overall didn't see or feel a huge difference. I went in on Mar 16th and had lost 3 lbs which wasn't that thrilling but I felt like I was getting the whole eating thing kinda worked out. I'm watching what I eat, trying new things, working on different types of Protein, etc. I got another 2 cc's on the 16th and I'm noticing a little more restriction. I thought I had mastered the chewing, small bites thing but I have to literally make myself slow down even when I'm taking tiny bites and really chewing. It's easy to forget for a second and swallow too big of a bite or too many too quick. You learn real quick not to do that. It feels like you swallowed a golf ball. Fortunatly, it passes and you tuck that away in your brain and hope you don't do it again. I had visions of losing 40 lbs by my birthday in June but I'm a very slow loser...always have been. I know it will take a few trys to get to that perfect amount of Fluid where you hit your stride and lose 1-2 lbs a week. My measurements really show the difference more than the scale which is awesome. We all want our excess weight off tomorrow but it is a journey that doesn't happen overnight. I've learned to set more realistic goals in the last 2 months that don't always revolve around the scale. I'm going in on 4/1 for an updated blood panel. I'm so anxious to see my cholesterol and blood sugar numbers. Hopefully I'll have a victory to report. Best of luck to you!!! shelley

Hey everyone! I'm getting my band this week as well! My nerves have not set in yet, thank goodness! I am so excited to get my band, and to be a few weeks away from eating again! This 2 week liquids diet has been nuts! Definitely one of the hardest things I've done. Thanks also for the stories from our banded friends! I love reading how positive the band has been for everyone! Good Luck to all the other bandsters this week!!! :success1: :welldoneclap:

Sending all of you who are about to have your surgery lots of positive thoughts and best wishes!! I remember how scary it was pre-op and how hard it was to imagine that the band WOULD really work, and to picture myself at my goal. But guess what?? If you follow the rules most of the time, it works wonderfully. I'm almost 2 1/2 years post-op and have been at goal for several months. The band has totally changed my life (well, made it possible for me to make big changes and actually stick with them without feeling deprived). It's amazing the changes that have happened over the past few years and how many things I'd forgotten about that I really enjoy now, like shopping... flying.... going to the beach, etc.

I know you guys are going to rock your bands and am sending very best wishes for your success! :)

Catherine

God bless you. You will be just fine! Keep a positive attitude; my surgery was Jan. 18th....and even though I am losing slowly....it is not like a gastric bypass....I am right on course. You will have to use your own will power for a while when your stomach is unswelling from the surgery....and don't sleep on your tummy....it will hurt like Heck! Basically, you still need to count calories. I am going in for my 2nd fill in another week. I have yet to feel much restriction....but then again each person is different and also your fat pockets that the band nestles into....are different....so YOU will do just fine and I am praying for your safe and fast recovery. Take care, Cheri

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
